Continuum of School-Based Service Delivery in Speech-Language Pathology

School-based speech-language pathology services follow a continuum to provide support based on the individual needs of each student. This includes participation in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) at varying levels of intensity to meet their academic and non-academic needs, formal evaluation and assessment to determine eligibility for speech-language services. Flexible service delivery models are implemented to deliver individualized instruction. Student needs are regularly reassessed to determine continued eligibility or dismissal from speech-language services, always aiming for the least restrictive and most effective support. This page outlines each stage of the continuum to guide school-based SLPs in delivering responsive, student-centered services.
