The Assistants Certification Program gives audiology assistants and speech-language pathology assistants (SLPA) the opportunity to become certified practitioners. ASHA certification validates and provides assurance that because of their training and continuous professional development, certificate holders are able to practice at the top of their license.
Did you know? ASHA Certification is not licensure and does not give you the ability to practice. You must meet your state requirements in order to practice.
ASHA Assistants have access to career-building resources, professional development opportunities, money saving discounts, and more.

Say “hello” to Jakobie “Kobie” Whitaker, from Fayetteville, North Carolina! Jakobie jumped into the CSD field by completing her BA in SLP at North Carolina A&T (Aggie pride!) and has since loved being an SLPA. Her favorite part of the job? Helping kids “turn their challenges into triumphs!” Jakobie’s valuable advice to other assistants is to carefully look at each state’s requirements for assistants and make sure you partake in workshops since the field is always changing and growing. She values her relationship with her supervisor as “she treats me as an equal counterpart that she can collaborate with.” Recognize her name? She recently co-wrote an ASHA Leader article! Thanks for all you do, Jakobie!
