Audiology ICD-10-CM Code Changes for 2027
New and revised ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) codes are effective October 1, 2026, for fiscal year (FY) 2027. ICD-10-CM codes are updated annually. For past updates, see audiology ICD-10-CM code changes for 2026 and 2025.
Note: Always check with payers regarding coverage of new or revised ICD-10-CM codes. Coding changes may not always alter payer coverage decisions for specific conditions.

Summary of Changes
The 2027 ICD-10-CM includes deletion of some codes related to toxic effects of organic solvents and new code related to toxic effects of alkenes, cycloparaffins, and other organic solvents. The following list of changes outlines the deleted and new codes.

ASHA Notes
- ICD-10-CM codes T52.8X (T52.8X1, T52.8X2, T52.8X3, T52.8X4) series has been deleted. Audiologists should not report these codes beginning 2027.
- ICD-10-CM introduces new codes T52.81, T52.82, T52.89 series.
- Audiologists typically do not assign codes from the T-series. However, audiologists may report codes from the T-series as the medical diagnosis when appropriate.
- Audiologists may also use these new ICD-10-CM codes to provide additional details regarding an underlying or coexisting condition to hearing and vestibular disorders.
- Consult the medical record or the referring physician when necessary for additional information on relevant diagnoses before reporting these new codes as the medical diagnosis.
