Why are you running for the Board Member at Large in Audiology on the ASHA Board of Directors?

 

Kelly M. Reavis, PhD, MPH, MS, CCC-A, is a licensed audiologist and epidemiologist whose work bridges clinical audiology, public health, and population-based research. She currently serves as Associate Director for Public Health and Veteran Partnerships at the VA National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR) and is an Assistant Professor at the Oregon Health & Science University–Portland State University School of Public Health. Dr. Reavis leads and collaborates on large, multi-site studies focused on hearing loss, tinnitus, and military- and occupational-related auditory injury across the life course.

Dr. Reavis has been an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association since 2003 and has demonstrated sustained commitment to professional service, leadership, and mentoring. She served as Program Development Manager (PDM) for Special Interest Group 8 (Public Health Audiology), where she developed content-driven educational programming, including focused talks and learning modules for the ASHA Annual Convention. In this role, she also collaborated with the Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups editorial team to curate peer-reviewed manuscripts for publication. She currently serves as the Oregon Representative to the Committee of Ambassadors and mentors early-career professionals and trainees through ASHA’s Pathways mentoring program. Her professional interests emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and translating evidence into practice to improve hearing health across diverse settings—particularly for Veterans, rural populations, and individuals who have been exposed to occupational and environmental risk.

Dr. Reavis brings a broad, systems-level perspective to the audiology profession and is committed to collaborative, evidence-driven efforts that advance science, strengthen professional practice, and improve access to quality hearing health care for all.
