Earn CE Credit for Completed Courses

All APD courses require you to demonstrate your learning to earn ASHA CEUs/professional development hours.

Self-Study Courses

Many APD courses require passing an online multiple-choice exam, while other programs require you to think about things you learned and report on a completion form how you will use your new knowledge. You will find a link to the exam or completion form/learning assessment (whichever applies) in each course in the ASHA Learning Center. Follow the directions above to access the self-study course, and then launch the course and select the exam or completion form/learning assessment link.

Webinars

If you participated in a webinar as part of a group, you must use the link provided to you by your group leader in order to log into the event and submit a completion form. For live webinars, you must submit the completion form within 5 days of the live event.

If you registered and participated in a webinar as an individual, follow the Self-Study Courses instructions above.

About ASHA CEUs and PDHs

ASHA CEUs and Eligibility

ASHA CEUs are awarded through the ASHA CE Registry to SLPs, audiologists, or speech/language/hearing scientists. To receive ASHA CEUs, eligible persons must join the ASHA CE Registry, which functions like a college registrar. In addition to maintaining a permanent, cumulative record of courses and ASHA CEUs (taken from ASHA Professional Development as well as other providers), you may also request official transcripts from the CE Registry. Learn about the CE Registry.

Joining the Registry is optional. If you are eligible to earn ASHA CEUs, but choose not to join the Registry, you may track your own professional development hours.

Professional Development Hours and Eligibility

Professional development hours (PDHs) are an alternative measurement unit for continuing education activities. Related professionals, SLP and audiology assistants, and others may receive PDHs.

PDHs from ASHA Professional Development courses apply toward ASHA certification maintenance. You should check with other authorities (such as state license boards or departments of education) to see if they recognize PDHs.

How ASHA CEUs/PDHs Are Calculated

Keep the following points in mind while keeping track of your continuing education hours:

  • One ASHA CEU equals 10 hours of instruction.
  • One PDH equals 1 hour of instruction.
  • Both ASHA CEUs and PDHs are rounded down to the nearest half hour.
