March 2022 Health Policy Update

ASHA monitors health policy updates in both public and private health plans across the United States. Below are the latest updates that could impact you or those you serve.

  • Aetna: A new voice therapy policy was published with changes to ICD-10 coding requirements.
  • Aetna: An update to the cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implant policy was published. Changes were made to coverage requirements, supporting information, and the experimental/investigational statement.
  • AmeriHealth Caritas (Louisiana Medicaid) [PDF]: A new provider manual was published.
  • Anthem (Indiana) [PDF]: A new provider bulletin was published.
  • BCBS Kansas [PDF]: An update to the Implantable Bone Conduction and Bone Anchored hearing aid policy was published containing changes to the code list.
  • BCBS Michigan, Blue Care Network [PDF]: An update to the place of service codes and requirements for telemedicine services was published.
  • BCBS North Carolina [PDF]: An updated telehealth billing guideline was published, which extends reimbursement through September 30, 2022.
  • CareAllies, Cigna [PDF]: An update to the speech generating devices policy was published. The update contains changes to the supplemental information, medical necessity information, and administrative information.

  • Dean Health Plan, Prevea360, WellFirst Health [PDF]: A new policy for bone anchored hearing aid systems was published with changes to the prior authorization requirements.
