Promoting Your Courses for Free with the New and Improved ASHA CEFind

December 15, 2022

Did you know that you can promote your courses for free by making them available on ASHA CEFind—ASHA Continuing Education’s (CE) search engine for courses offered for ASHA continuing education units (CEUs)? ASHA CE has been working behind the scenes to make improvements to CEFind, which are now live.. These changes make it easier for users to find the right courses for them. This means it’s also easier for them to access your courses when they search for topics to meet their continuing education needs.

Now that the updates are live, it’s time for you to take advantage of all the new features that can expand your audience of learners. Here are just three of the improvements we’ve made—with associated recommendations to optimize your CEFind listings when you register courses through the CE Provider Portal:

  1. Search and go!

In the updated CEFind, learners can click the Registration URL directly from their Search Results. We’ve included this link on the Course Details page, as well.

How can you take advantage of this change?

When you register a course and indicate that you’d like it listed on CEFind, you should provide the course URL that links directly to the promotional webpage for that course—where users can see all the course and registration information. Regardless of whether you have a webpage to promote the course, you should always include the course registration contact’s name and phone number.

  2. Identify applicable topics! Courses in CEFind have “tags” based on their subject code, so learners can identify topics that apply to their profession and that help them fulfill certification and licensure requirements.

With this in mind, we’ve added tags titled “Audiology” and “Speech-Language Pathology” to all the courses in CEFind. These designations are based on the subject code you assign when you register a course through the CE Provider Portal. Both tags are included when the content is appropriate for both professions.

CEFind also uses the subject codes to determine tags for courses that automatically apply to any one of the three ASHA Certification requirement topics—Ethics; Supervision; and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). These courses count toward fulfillment of the associated ASHA Certification requirement.

All of the associated tags for the course appear on the Search Results page as well as on the Course Details page. The Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, Ethics, Supervision, and DEI tags can all be applied as filters when users search for courses.

How can you take advantage of this change?

Select the subject code that best reflects the focus of most of course content. Then, when CEFind users search for courses by topic, they’ll get results that are relevant and meet their needs. It’s essential that the subject code is accurate: Doing this will help your intended audience find your course—with the ultimate goal of a perfect match!

  3. Know before you go! Learners see the course description in CEFind exactly as it will appear on their CE Registry transcript when they complete the course, so they’ll know more before they go!

The transcript description informs potential attendees of what they can expect to learn from taking the course.

How can you take advantage of this change? When a user searches on CEFind, they expect to find the answers to their questions about the course: What topics will be covered? What can I expect to learn? What kind of activities will I participate in to support my learning? The wording of the course description should answer these questions. Remember: The description appears on the participant’s transcript, which is reviewed by state licensure boards and ASHA Certification, among others. Avoid using marketing language; just provide a factual summary.

We’ve already gone live with the CEFind updates, so it’s important to start with these recommendations now. Here is how to list your course on CEFind. When you register the course through the Provider Portal, a question will appear that asks, “Would you like your course listed on CEFind?” Select “Yes.” Equipped with the tips listed above, you can increase your audience on CEFind, make it easier for users to find and register for your course, and bump up those registration numbers. Be sure to make the best use of this promotional tool! Let your Provider Manager know if you have any questions or need assistance. They’re happy to help.
