Closing reflections and next steps |
You'll walk away from this event able to:
- Communicate the rationale for using flexible service delivery models (e.g., consultative, classroom-based, cyclical approaches) as a way to meet student needs and manage services within real school constraints by using tools and frameworks to guide decisions and scheduling.
- Describe eligibility, goal-writing, and dismissal decisions in a way that is understandable to non-SLP stakeholders, connecting recommendations to educational impact, student access, and team responsibilities.
- Justify dismissal or reduction of services by (a) explaining “maximum benefit” and generalization and (b) framing dismissal as a planned transition of support rather than withdrawal of care.
- Use clearer documentation and professional language to support recommendations in IEP discussions, especially when families, advocates, or administrators may question decisions.
