Liaisons with the Vice President for Standards and Ethics in Speech-Language Pathology and Vice President for Standards and Ethics in Audiology
The SPEB will (a) provide oversight in the operations of ASHA Professional Development’s (APD) program plan, including reviewing and recommending policies and procedures and monitoring progress toward achieving member service and revenue goals; (b) provide input and guidance in the development and delivery of APD’s offerings, including the identification of relevant issues that impact the type, quality, and relevance of programming; and (c) nominate future Convention Co-Chair candidates for consideration by the Committee on Committees.
Chair (two years); At-large Members (three years); Convention Co-Chairs (one year)
SPEB conducts two (2) face-to-face meetings per year: one half-day meeting on Committee Day at the ASHA Convention, and a two-day meeting in Rockville, Maryland, in the winter. SPEB engages throughout the year via 6–8 conference calls and/or webinars (GoToMeeting). Additionally, SPEB has its own web-based collaborate site to share information, edit and post documents, and carry out committee assignments.
SPEB is committed to diversity and desires to balance the board with members who have had some ASHA committee/board experience with members who are new to ASHA leadership positions. SPEB also desires to have members who work in various settings and who bring experience in adult professional learning and continuing education.
