Career Transitions Mentorship Program (CTMP)

Peer support for SLPs navigating career transitions

The Career Transitions Mentorship Program (CTMP) is an ASHA member benefit that supports experienced speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who are navigating a career or professional transition within the field.

Whether you’re moving to a new setting, returning to the workforce, or taking on new responsibilities, CTMP connects you with a peer mentor who offers practical guidance, perspective, and support.

How the CTMP Works

CTMP provides structured, one-on-one virtual peer mentoring for SLPs transitioning within or across practice settings and roles.

Over a six-month partnership, participants focus on:

  • Applying existing skills in a new role or setting
  • Understanding expectations and workplace culture
  • Identifying resources for continued growth
  • Building confidence during a career transition

Mentees are SLPs who:

  • Have at least 1 year of professional experience post-certification/licensure
  • Are transitioning to a new setting, role, responsibility, or re-entering the workforce
  • Want peer support and practical insight during a career change

Mentors are SLPs who:

  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience post-certification/licensure
  • Are proficient in their setting or role
  • Want to give back while building leadership and mentoring skills
