The ASHA Continuing Education Unit (ASHA CEU) is a type of continuing education credit that the ASHA Continuing Education (CE) Registry awards. This credit is available exclusively to Registry users who have successfully completed courses registered by ASHA Approved CE Providers.

These Standards and Policies represent best practices in adult education and instructional design. They ensure that the content and learning outcomes directly relate to the contemporary science and practice of audiology and speech-language pathology. The course content and level must also surpass that required for initial ASHA certification.
ASHA CEUs are accepted by ASHA Certification and by most state regulatory agencies that require continuing education for licensure renewal.

An “ASHA CEU” is just one form of continuing education unit (CEU). The term “CEU” is a nationally recognized standard unit of measurement for a person’s participation in a continuing education activity. The definition of the term “CEU” is set and maintained by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
ASHA CEUs can be earned only by those who

Many other types of CE credits exist in the marketplace. ASHA CE is the only entity that awards ASHA CEUs for courses registered by ASHA Approved CE Providers. ASHA does not regulate other types of continuing education credit. ASHA Approved CE Providers must ensure that their organization and courses continually meet the stringent criteria that ASHA CE sets forth in their Standards and Policies.
