Award for Continuing Education (ACE)
The Award for Continuing Education (ACE) is how ASHA recognizes professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to lifelong learning by earning 7.0 ASHA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) [equivalent to 70 hours] within a rolling 36-month period. This is not based on calendar years or the person’s Certification Maintenance Interval.
How To Earn an ACE
The ACE is automatically awarded to those who:
- participate in the ASHA CE Registry by having paid the applicable CE Registry fee(s);
- have earned 7.0 ASHA CEUs* (equivalent to 70 hours) within a rolling 36-month period; and
- meet at least one of the following eligibility categories at the time they complete the courses:

- ASHA Member
- ASHA Member who holds ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Non-members who hold ASHA’s CCC
* If you complete the same course multiple times, it will count only once towards the ACE.
ACE Notification
ASHA CE sends ACE notifications by email approximately 90 days from the end date of your last applicable course. The email will include a printable copy of the ACE certificate and a digital badge to display on social media profiles.
Check Your ACE Progress
Use the ACE view on your online CE transcript to see the courses and the ASHA CEUs that apply to the ACE—as well as any past ACEs that you’ve earned.
Although you may see courses officially reported to the ASHA CE Registry and added to your ASHA CE transcript, you will not see them applied toward your ACE interval until 65 days after the course’s completion date. This ensures the accuracy of the course records used for your ACE.
ACE Benefits
ASHA CE recognizes ACE recipients in the following ways:
- including their name in the ACE recipient listing (see next section below);**
- submitting their name to state associations for publication;
- giving ACE recipients award-related documentation that recipients may use for employment or promotional purposes;
- making them eligible for a discount on professional liability insurance; and
- giving them a digital badge to display on their social media profiles.
