The information below is collected from state licensure boards or regulatory agencies responsible for regulating the professions of audiology and/or speech-language pathology in the state of New Hampshire. ASHA Pathway: The ASHA CCC is accepted as proof of meeting some requirements for licensure for both professions. 

Audiologist

  • Master’s or doctoral degree

 An audiologist who dispenses hearing aids must register as a hearing aid dealer.  

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

  • Master’s degree

Both

  • Supervised clinical practicum
  • Postgraduate professional experience
  • National exam or ASHA CCC

Continuing Education: Audiologists: 20 hours every two years; SLPs: 30 hours every two years

ASLP-IC: New Hampshire is a member state of the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC). Information on the current status of the ASLP-IC can be found on the ASLP-IC website.

Telepractice: Providers must adhere to the same requirements as in-person practice.

Temporary Practice for Out-of-State Providers: No provisions.

A state license is required to work in New Hampshire schools.

Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist

Audiology Assistant

Health Care Setting

  • Certification required by board
  • Associate’s degree
  • The supervising SLP may not supervise more than two full-time assistants.

School Setting

  • Not regulated

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

Health Care Setting

  • Certification required by board
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Supervisors may not supervise more than two full-time SLPAs.

Continuing education: 12 hours of continuing competence per biennium

School Setting

SLPAs employed in public schools and schools approved by the Department of Education are exempt from the licensure board certification requirements
