Description of Opportunity: ASHA and PSI (an ETS Company) are seeking dedicated individuals to serve as item writers for the national audiology examination. Serving as an item writer gives you the opportunity to directly support a fair, valid examination while gaining insight into the assessment development process and strengthening your professional skills.
Item writing is a self-paced activity, making it an accessible and flexible way to engage with ASHA’s assessment work and to contribute to the profession.
Selected item writers will each be assigned 12-15 items aligned with specific areas identified in the test specifications. Assignments will be distributed in mid-June and will be due by September 10.
Item writers are expected to adhere to all item writing guidelines, make every effort to meet the September 10 submission deadline, and participate in one of the following virtual training sessions, which will review best practices and provide an overview of the item writing platform:
A recording will be made available for those who are unable to attend a live virtual training.
Experience Required: No previous item writing experience is required. Applicants must hold the CCC-A and have 3 years of clinical work experience. Prospective item writers should have experience with students, Clinical Fellows, new practitioners, and/or be an early career professional.
