North Carolina, Georgia Become Latest States to Pass ASLP-IC

July 9, 2020

North Carolina and Georgia are the 5th and 6th states to pass legislation approving the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC). North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed H.B. 1053 into law on July 2. Georgia bill, S.B. 306 is awaiting approval by Governor Brian Kemp. These states join Oklahoma, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming in adopting the ASLP-IC.

Ten states must enact a compact bill for the ASLP-IC to become operational. ASHA will continue to work with the Council of State Governments (CSG) and allied stakeholders to pass legislation in the states during the 2021 legislative sessions.
