Linda I. Rosa-Lugo, EdD, CCC-SLP, received her doctoral degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is the Associate Dean of Faculty Excellence, Graduate Programs and Global Affairs in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She is a teaching faculty member in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and she served as the Master’s Program Director and Public-School Consortium Coordinator. She is also the founding and current director of the UCF Listening Center.
Prior to her university employment, she held several teaching and administrative positions in schools and medical settings in New York City. She is a bilingual speech-language pathologist (SLP) and a teacher of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Dr. Rosa-Lugo has a long-standing commitment to interprofessional practice and education. She has received collaborative U.S. Department of Education grants in several areas: language/literacy; preparation of SLPs to serve English language learners with communication disorders; and listening and spoken language intervention for children and adolescents with hearing loss who come from linguistically diverse homes. Her research and publications during the past 27 years have focused on the areas named above.
Dr. Rosa-Lugo has been an active member of ASHA for 27 years. She is an ASHA Fellow and a recipient of ASHA’s international achievement and diversity awards. She was the Vice President for Professional Practice and President of the Hispanic Caucus. She has been a site visitor for the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) and Chair of the ASHA/PAHO ad hoc committee focusing on the needs of individuals with hearing loss in El Salvador. She is currently the Professional Development Manager of SIG 17 (Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders) and is a member of SIG 14 (Cultural and Linguistic Diversity). She has also been an active member of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists and received Honors of the Association.
