Thickened Liquids in Pediatrics: Current Evidence-Based Practice

June 23, 2021
7:00 – 9:00 p.m. ET

Research shows that thickening is an effective intervention for reducing the risk of pulmonary aspiration caused by dysphagia and to decrease regurgitation associated with gastroesophageal reflux in young children. Best practices for thickening breast milk and formula have changed, but many practitioners are still using thickening agents that are now contraindicated in young children, significantly alter the caloric and nutritional density of the diet, and/or contribute to dehydration. Learn more about the important factors that should be considered when selecting a thickener for young children, why we should think twice about using infant cereal, and which thickeners are safest for infants.

Join us to ask your questions about the latest research and best practices for selecting a thickening agent for young children.
