I Love to Listen Day

Washington, DC

For 14 years, Marva Shand McIntosh has promoted BHSM by creating an awareness for the importance of listening as the foundation for all learning. I Love to Listen Day - May 16 is the premiere international listening day when people around the world are encouraged to listen and speak up for listening. The date, May 16, was selected primarily to align with BHSM.

As a speech-language pathologist in the District of Columbia Public Schools, Marva has used this opportunity to share listening workshops with audiologists, SLPs, teachers, administrators, and health care professionals in Washington, DC, many states across the United States, and other countries.

On May 16 this year some schools in Jamaica, St. Kits and Nevis, Maryland, Michigan, Washington DC, and citizens from several other countries will hear about BHSM as they celebrate the fourteenth year of I Love to Listen Day. The schools in these communities will be creating and sharing thank-you-for-listening notes as they reflect on the theme "Does Listening Run in Your Family?"
