Medicare is changing the way it pays for therapy services for skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies, and ASHA wants you to be prepared. ASHA, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) are hosting two free webinars to help you prepare for the transition. During the webinars, you will learn the facts on the upcoming changes and gain practical tips to demonstrate your value when the payment systems go into effect.
Registration is required. Recordings will be available on the ASHA website.
CMS has released final rules for implementation of sweeping changes to skilled nursing and home health. The Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will go into effect for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) on October 1, 2019. For speech-language pathologists working in home health, the new payment system is known as the Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) and it will go into effect on January 1, 2020.
While ASHA has developed a wide range of resources to prepare members for the implementation of the revised prospective payment systems, the webinars present an opportunity to hear directly from CMS as well as perspectives from colleagues in other skilled therapy disciplines.
