We are happy to inform you that the proposed partnership between Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon) and the American Specialty Health Group (ASH)—which would have negatively impacted patient access to care and provider reimbursement rates—will not launch on January 1, 2020.
The program, as submitted to the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI), did not meet all the regulatory requirements needed for approval. We expect DOBI will issue a statement to this effect.
ASHA [PDF] and the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NJSHA) collaborated to address concerns with the proposed partnership that would have affected many ASHA members.
ASHA thanks NJSHA for their groundwork and members who took action to address this situation. This success is a result of state and national associations working together and member advocacy. We will continue to monitor this situation and alert ASHA members of any changes moving forward.
