Frequently Asked Questions: ASHA and CE Broker

I'm licensed in Ohio; is ASHA going to send my ASHA CEUs to CE Broker?

ASHA is working in partnership with CE Broker to transfer course credits (ASHA CEUs) to CE Broker on behalf of Ohio licensees who use the ASHA CE Registry. ASHA anticipates that it will begin transmitting ASHA CEUs to CE Broker in the second quarter of 2013. Rest assured that all ASHA CEUs earned by Ohio licensees on or after 1/1/2013 will be submitted to CE Broker. More information about the arrangement between the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is available on the Ohio Board's website.

ASHA will not be able to submit your ASHA CEUs to CE Broker.

What happens if I give ASHA the wrong license number(s)?

When will ASHA CE transmit my ASHA CEUs to CE Broker?

In October 2005, ASHA transmitted all existing course and participant data from 2004 and 2005. Transmission of new data is now ongoing.

Will ASHA CE transmit anything to CE Broker if I took a course that was offered for ASHA CEUs but did not fill out an ASHA CEU Participant Form?

No. The only record ASHA has of an individual's participation in a course is through the submission of the ASHA CEU Participant Form information through an ASHA CE Provider. You may be able to self-submit the course directly to CE Broker.

Important Note : If you did not fill out an ASHA CEU Participant Form at the conclusion of the event or submit information electronically to the Provider per the Provider's instructions, you can't fill one out now and earn ASHA CEUs retroactively.

I completed an ASHA CEU Participant Form but did not pay the CE Registry fee. Will that course record be sent to CE Broker?

No. Only valid ASHA CEUs will be sent to CE Broker. However, you may pay the CE Registry fee for the current and/or previous years in order to validate CEUs for which you previously submitted a CEU Participant Form. Call the at 800-498-2071 for assistance.

Do I have to be a member of ASHA to use the CE Registry?

No. Non-members who are certified by ASHA, credentialed to practice by a state, and students in graduate and undergraduate communication disorders programs may earn ASHA CEUs and use the CE Registry.
