Angina is the heart's way of saying it's not getting enough oxygen. Sometimes it can be mistaken for indigestion. Angina does not last longer than 5 minutes. If your angina worsens or starts to occur with more frequency over a shorter period of time, you should know that you are at a greater risk of a heart attack.
Symptoms
Pain that is crushing (like a 10-year-old sitting on your chest), sharp, squeezing, or burning. Felt in the chest, but may also occur in the jaw, shoulder or arm, neck, throat, jaw, or upper back.
Stable angina
The pain is present only during exertion or extreme emotional distress and disappears with rest.
Unstable angina
A more acute condition, occurs unpredictably, even during rest, and may signal an impending heart attack.
