Credential Evaluation Services Agencies
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requires internationally educated individuals who wish to pursue ASHA certification to have their credentials evaluated by an independent foreign credential evaluation service. This listing of agencies that perform such evaluations is provided to assist individuals in locating an acceptable agency with which to work.
ASHA requires that the educational evaluation be performed by one of the listed agencies but does not recommend or endorse any of the agencies listed below. All agencies listed are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), an association of private foreign educational credential evaluation services dedicated to promoting excellence and committed to setting the standard for their profession. Further information on NACES may be obtained through the NACES website.
In requesting a review of credentials for purposes of ASHA certification, applicants should specify a course-by-course evaluation in American semester hours with specific notation as to those courses completed at the graduate level. Additionally, the highest level of education completed must be stated by the evaluating agency.
To apply for ASHA certification, individuals will need to complete and submit the official ASHA application along with appropriate payment and an official copy of the translation/evaluation received from the foreign credential evaluating agency. Once the application is reviewed by the ASHA National Office additional information, such as course descriptions, may be required and will be requested from the applicant.
