Pasadena Fundamental Elementary School
St. Petersburg, Florida
This year at Pasadena Fundamental Elementary School, we kicked
off our BHSM activities with a fundraiser for Smile Train, the
cleft lip and palate charity. Speech and language students
advertised with signs around the school and morning show
announcements. They created collection buckets, hats and signs to
use at the morning dropoff and collected over $300! Students
counted and readied the money for the deposit and results
announcements. The last day of the fundraiser, a parent from our
school who is also an orthodontist, called for the final total-so
she could match our donation!
Our BSHM activities did not stop there. We offered free
hearing screenings to staff and parents. Students who
"graduated from Speech/Language" at any time during
their elementary career were invited to a Graduation Luncheon to
celebrate their successes. Students also made BHSM public service
announcements on the school morning show.
It's been a fun month and we can't wait until next
year!
