Question: Which Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code should be used for tinnitus assessment and what is its Medicare fee?

Answer: Audiologists have been able to use CPT code 92625—assessment of tinnitus (includes pitch, loudness matching, and masking)—since 2005. The 2009 total relative value unit for 92625 is 1.87, which converts to a national Medicare fee of $67.44. You can check with your Medicare carrier for your local Medicare rate.
