ASHA's 25th Annual State Association Workshop
Conference Information
Join us for a special 25th anniversary celebration of the
State Association Workshop in Indianapolis, Indiana. The theme of
this year's workshop is Leading the Way: Volunteers Shaping
the Professions. Included in the Workshop will be a celebration
of 25 years of volunteer leadership with ASHA's President
Elect, Tommie Robinson and ASHA's Executive Director, Arlene
Pietranton. This celebration will include a luncheon,
commemorative gift, and a special afternoon celebration.
The state association workshop is designed to inform you about
federal and state legislative and policy issues/trends, and help
you build on your skills to become a more effective leader and
advocate for the professions. An interactive format gives you the
chance to exchange information with peers and colleagues from
around the country as well as ASHA leaders and staff on issues
impacting your association and the professions.
At this year's workshop, we will explore the role of
volunteerism nationwide along with examining ASHA's public
policy agenda and how to develop a successful political action
committee. We'll also delve into finding funding in your
state during these challenging times and engaging student
volunteers in the professions. Sessions will also be offered to
help you hone your negotiation skills and we'll explore the
future of reimbursement. You will also learn about ways to engage
members online and what the next steps are for states in early
hearing detection and intervention. Opportunities to discuss both
regional concerns and issues based on your state
association's size will take place in the always popular
roundtable settings. The spring meeting of the Council of State
Speech-Language-Hearing Association Presidents (CSAP) will
immediately follow the workshop.
