Victory! Therapy Caps Suspended December 8th
(12/08/03)
With President Bush's signing of the Medicare Prescription
Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, the cap on Part
B Medicare therapy services has been suspended effective December
8, 2003 until at least the end of 2005. Providers of
outpatient speech-language pathology services should start
submitting their claims. According to CMS, payment for Part
B speech-language pathology services will be paid based on the
date the claim is received by the contractor, as opposed to the
date the service was provided.
CMS has notified its contractors through a transmittal that
will soon be available on the CMS Web site. A link to this
transmittal will also be on the
Billing &
Reimbursement page once it is available. For additional information,
