Meet the Authors
Barbara B. Oppenheimer, MA, CCC-SLP has more than 20 years of experience teaching and
supervising undergraduate and graduate students and medical
residents about speech-language pathology. Currently, she serves
as the pediatric team leader for the Speech Pathology Service at
Newton-Wellesley Hospital/MGH for Children in Newton,
Massachusetts, consulting speech-language pathologist for the
Neurology Foundation's Learning Disabilities Team at
Children's Hospital Boston, and holds an appointment as an
adjunct clinical assistant professor at Boston University.
She has presented on incorporating research into the diagnostic
process when evaluating children with language disorders, at the
regional, national and international level
Sherri L. Sieff, PhD,CCC-SLP is Clinical Professor in the Department of
Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee and serves as Coordinator of the on-campus
Speech and Language Clinic. She currently supervises
undergraduate and graduate students in the on-campus
clinic. She has conducted research in child language and
student learning and has presented on these topics at the local,
state, and national levels. She also chaired the
department's graduate curriculum committee as it revised its
curriculum to meet the new ASHA standards.
Trisha Self, PhD, CCC-SLP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of
Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wichita State
University. She has been the clinic director for the WSU
Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic for approximately 12 years. She
has supervised and instructed both undergraduate and graduate
students in the area of communication disorders. Her
primary research interests include investigating the
effectiveness of virtual reality for improving the communication
skills for children with autism spectrum disorders and
investigating strategies for developing and enhancing supervision
models within university clinics.
