Since 1997 the BSHP's speech-language pathology and audiology services were funded primarily by a private family, but with three sons approaching college age, the family had to redirect its finances. Fortunately Orbiko, a large grocery import company, decided to fund the therapy—a blessing that arrived at the perfect time.
The University of Tuzla has requested that a university in the United States become involved to continue the clinical training and exchange of information and expand the clinical training.
A university or SLP is needed to take over coordination and further development of the summer clinic/team portion of BSHP. In addition, a director is needed for the Bosnia Speech and Hearing Project to continue this rewarding work.
This is an established project with the connections and format already in place. BSHP has connections with the University of Tuzla, SLPs, and interpreters. There are students to work with and established locations. The housing arrangements are in place, and there is a history of volunteer involvement.
