The latest in audiology practice and research will be the focus of the 2003 Audiology Convention at ASHA, which will take place Nov. 13–15 in Chicago. Michael Dennis, audiology program chair, recently announced the audiology keynote speakers. Each day of the three-day convention will begin with a keynote address. By popular request, keynote speakers will be practicing audiologists who are nationally and internationally recognized for their areas of expertise.
"The Promise of a Profession: Are We There Yet?" will be the keynote address by Lucille B. Beck , director of the audiology and speech pathology program for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. She is also chief consultant for the Rehabilitation Strategic Health Care Group.
"Frontiers of Childhood Hearing Loss" will be presented by Judith S. Gravel , professor of communication sciences at Hunter College of the City University of New York. Gravel also is a visiting professor of otolaryngology and pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.
"Working Toward Consensus on Pediatric Hearing Instrument Fitting" will be presented by Richard C. Seewald . He is professor and Canada Research Chair in Childhood Hearing at the National Centre for Audiology at The University of Western Ontario.
