The availability of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) FY 2003 discretionary grant applications has been delayed, but the applications are expected to be announced this month.
These grants, including the FY 2003 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) grant competition, are usually announced by Oct. 1 of each year. But, due to an internal delay at the ED, the competition had yet to be announced as The ASHA Leader went to press, though it was expected to be announced Nov. 18. Continue to check the ED’s Web site at
www.ed.gov/GrantApps/
for the latest information on these grant application packets. The application submission deadlines will vary depending on the program.
New grants available under IDEA will include:
-
personnel preparation to improve services and results for children with disabilities
-
research and innovation to improve services and results for children with disabilities
-
technology and media services for individuals with disabilities
