Friday, Nov. 17 3:00 - 4:30 PM CC-Hall D Poster 146 Literacy Development of Eight-to-Nine-Year-Old Children With Hearing Loss Very little is know about the literacy or literacy-related cognitive skills in children with mild-to-moderate or mild-to-severe hearing loss. Understanding the developmental change of a wider and comprehensive range of literacy and related cognitive skills is highlighted in this study.
Friday, Nov. 17 3:00 - 4:30 PM CC-Hall D Poster 321 Academic Achievement of Children With Hearing Impairment: SAT 10 Update Research shows that children with hearing impairment score far below others on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT 10). This presentation will compare recent and historical data on reading comprehension and highlights evidence for improved academic performance possibly associated with modern developments, such as early hearing detection and intervention programs (EDHI) and cochlear implantation of children.
Friday, Nov. 17 1:00-2:30 PM CC-Hall D Poster 173 The Persistence of Reading Deficits Among College-Level Students Despite the increasing number of post-secondary students with developmental dyslexia in Canadian colleges, little research has focused on this population. This study investigates how reading disabilities manifest themselves among French-speaking, college-level students.
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing organization for more than 123,000 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in the U.S. and internationally.
