Developing & Using Norm-Referenced Assessment Tools for Culturally/Linguistically Diverse Children
Distinguishing a language disorder from a language difference in culturally/linguistically diverse students is a complex task. This panel has been involved in developing norm-referenced assessments for CLD students and will provide valuable information for differentiating language differences from disorders.

Cultural Considerations on Parental Involvement: A Latino Focus
Research has shown that parental involvement in their children's education results in higher grades, better scores on standardized tests, increased graduation rates, and enrollment in post-secondary education. This session will discuss how Latino parents' views and practices may differ between and within Mexican American and Puerto Rican families.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing organization for more than 123,000 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in the U.S. and internationally.
