Bridging the Bilingual Communication Gap: Best Practices for Hispanic Students
English language learning Hispanic students are expected to speak English fluently and also succeed in school. A substantial number of these students may not be thriving in school and consequently are referred for speech language testing. This session will present current strategies related to appropriate assessment of second language learners.

Use of Evidence-Based Practice in Identifying Bilingual Phenomena
As young children develop bilingualism, some normal communication patterns might seem problematic. In this session, nine bilingual phenomena are identified that utilize a well-defined decision-making process to determine whether a communication disorder is really present.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing organization for more than 123,000 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in the U.S. and internationally.
