Indiana no longer offers licensure for the Educational Audiologist.

State Licensure
For school practice, 2 licenses are required:
- License issued by the Indiana Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board
and
- License issued by the Indiana Department of Education (DOE), Office of Educator Licensing
- Obtaining the DOE license is contingent upon either being registered as a Clinical Fellow, or holding a current state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Emergency Certification
Emergency Permits can only be sought by a Superintendent when a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) cannot be found to fill a persistent vacancy. Holders must:
- Have earned a Bachelor's degree in communication disorders
- Be enrolled in a graduate program and have submitted an approved plan of study
- Must have access to a licensed speech-language pathologist and practice within their scope of education and training
Support Personnel
Support personnel must be registered and supervised by a licensed SLP. There are 3 types of support personnel:
- Speech-Language Associate—holds a two-year associate's degree in Communication Disorders
- Speech-Language Assistant—holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders
- Speech-Language Aide—holds at least a high school diploma
Note: Indiana DOE does not license support personal.
Continuing Education Requirement
For those licensed under the previous licensing systems, 36 clock hours per biennial renewal period (state licensure renewal) are required. For those licensed under the current licensing system, license holders must submit a Professional Growth Plan directly to the Division of Professional Standards for renewal approval 120 days prior to the expiration date.
