A description of each state's requirements for audiologists and speech-language pathologists to work in the schools is now available on ASHA's State-by-State Web site. While summaries of state licensing laws for practice in health care settings have long been a part of ASHA's Web site, complete information for school practitioners can be found online for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Please visit ASHA's State-by-State Web page, select a state, and then link to teacher requirements to find out about qualifications for a school credential, continuing education, emergency certification, and support personnel. For further information or questions, please contact Susan Pilch, ASHA's Director of State Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy, via email at spilch@asha.org or by phone at 800-498-2071, ext. 4284.
