CMS Hosts Open Door Forum on Therapy Cap Exceptions Process

(3/17/06)

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced a special Open Door Forum on Monday, March 27, from 2:30 – 4:00 pm EST to discuss the Medicare therapy cap exceptions process. CMS released information on the exceptions process in February, and the conference call will allow speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to learn specific information on eligibility for payment above the cap, beneficiary instructions for the approval process, and where to find guidance on the CMS Web site. SLPs can participate by calling in to the CMS Open Door Forum at 800-837-1935.

ASHA recently hosted a telephone seminar on the Medicare exceptions process which is now available on replay. SLPs accessing the replay of the telephone seminar are eligible to receive CEU credits. Information on ASHA’s Medicare exceptions process telephone seminar is available on ASHA's Telephone Seminars & Replays Web page.

For further information, please visit ASHA’s Therapy Cap Action Center or contact Ingrida Lusis, ASHA’s Director of Health Care Regulatory Advocacy, via e-mail at ilusis@asha.org or by phone at 800-498-2071, ext. 4482.
