Officials at the U.S. Department of Education (ED) have indicated that the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B final regulations may be delayed beyond the initial December 2005 deadline until the summer 2006 or later. Stakeholders, including state special education officials and providers of services, continue to be concerned about the timeline on final regulations since most of the provisions of IDEA 2004 became effective July 1, 2005 or earlier.
