Executive Director Update

May 20, 2004

This is the third in a pilot series of occasional ASHA Executive Director Update postings.  Many thanks to those of you who provided feedback regarding the first (2/27/04:  overview of the ASHA National Office) and second one (4/6/04:  the ASHA Action Center) and suggestions for future ED updates. This update focuses on the ASHA Web Cluster.

The ASHA Web Cluster leads ASHA's web publishing efforts and serves as a consulting and support unit within the office, helping other ASHA clusters to achieve their missions and goals through the use of webbased technology. The Web Cluster has 6 staff who are organized in two teams.

The Content Management Team works with most National Office clusters and teams, as well as the ASHFoundation and NSSLHA staff, to plan and facilitate Web page and section development that is navigable and accessible, provide timesensitive announcements and content to the membership via the Web, and encourage networking and action that are vital to the association's continued growth. They also collaborate and support the efforts of over 30 National Office staff who contribute Web site content as Web Liaisons.

The Knowledge and Community Management Team has two roles: to serve as a bridge between the ASHA member community and the staff community; and to create tools and strategies to enhance our members ability to find information and resources available via their ASHA membership. The range of activities covered by this team include hosting online events, tuning the ASHA search engine and managing the ASHA intranet.

To learn more about the staff in the Web Cluster, ASHA members can visit our staff page on the ASHA web site.
