Self-Assessment for Cultural Competence
Demographic and caseload changes related to
culturally/linguistically diverse (CLD) populations require
cultural competence in order to provide clinically competent
services. ASHA resources were developed to help you reflect on
your current level of cultural competence to increase and improve
service delivery.
Cultural Competence Checklists
A series of checklists were developed to heighten your
awareness of providing services to CLD populations. There are no
answer keys and no "right" answers.
Cultural Competence Awareness Assessment
An
interactive
web-based tool
was designed to help you evaluate your cultural competence.
Percentages and scores are provided in each subtest in order to
help you determine your level of knowledge of specific topics.
They should not be used as absolutes. They should be used to
determine which areas may need some further development.
Your ASHA name and password
will not
work. You will need to use the following name and password to
enter this site.
Name: MATtester Password: Pilot
How Does Your Caseload Compare?
A
web-based application
was developed for ASHA members to demonstrate how the
demographics are shifting in the United States based on data from
the US Census Bureau. This calculator was developed as a resource
funded by the ASHA Focused Initiative on Culturally and
Linguistically Diverse (CLD) population to:
- Provide useful information for ASHA and NSSLHA members who
are speech-language pathologists, audiologists, speech-language
and hearing scientists, educators, continuing education
administrators, or other decision makers.
- Give you a comparison of caseload demographics (for real or
virtual caseload) with the general population in your
state.
