Professional Bio
Elaine Bernstorf is Associate Dean for the College of Fine Arts and Director and Professor of Music Education at Wichita State University, with a BME and MME in Special Music Education and a PhD in CSD from WSU. She served for fifteen years as an adaptive music specialist and speech pathologist. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in music education, curriculum and instruction, and voice disorders since 1984; research specializations include voice disorders, child language, vocal/special education music, early childhood arts education, and literacy development. Bernstorf co-authored the book The Music and Literacy Connection and developed several literacy focused fine arts programming. She serves as a consultant for the Arts for Learning national project for Young Audiences, Inc.

Professional Bio
I have been practicing in the field of speech-language pathology for more than 30 years. I am currently the Clinical Coordinator in the Department of Communication Disorders at Fort Hays State University. My specific areas of interest are clinical education, family-centered services to infants and toddlers, speech sound disorders, and accent modification. I have been involved in leadership positions in the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association for the past three years and also served on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Licensure Board from 1997-2001. I was named an ASHA Fellow in November 2006. I would be honored to represent Kansas as a member of the SLPAC.
