Professional Bio

I received the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975 and the Master of Arts degree in Audiology in 1977 from South Carolina State College. I am employed by South Carolina State University as an Instructor in Audiology and as audiologist in the university's Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. I teach undergraduate students and also provide clinical services to the university family and to citizens from a five county area surrounding Orangeburg. I hold membership in the following organizations: South Carolina Speech-Language-Hearing Association; National Black Association of Speech-Language-Hearing; South Carolina Academy of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology. I'm honored to have been nominated for the first elected seat on the Audiology Advisory Council from the great state of South Carolina. We are one profession – two disciplines.

Professional Bio

Jack was the first bilateral cochlear implant recipient in South Carolina. He received a MEd from the University of Virginia in 1999 and a PhD from the University of Miami in 2004 after which he joined the Otolaryngology faculty at MUSC as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Vestibular and Balance Program. He teaches Audiology for the College of Health Professions and Cochlear Implants for A.T. Still University's distance learning AuD program. Jack's research interests include improving vestibular testing for patients with hearing loss, increasing accuracy of pediatric cochlear implant programming, and improving the accuracy of hearing screenings. Jack's interests at the state level include education for children with hearing loss, increasing access to audiology services, and initiating a graduate audiology program at MUSC.
