LC 1-2001

Abstract: Approve revised operational procedures for the Operational Procedures Review Group (OPRG)

RESOLVED, That the revised operational procedures of the Operational Procedures Review Group (OPRG) be approved.

Rationale:  To facilitate its charge of reviewing and approving the operational procedures for all Legislative Council (LC) committees, the Operational Procedures Review Group (OPRG) has made revisions in its operational procedures that will facilitate the timely review and revision of the operational procedures of LC committees. The revised procedures are needed to ensure that the LC Committees and the OPRG revise, review, and approve operational procedures using a timeline that will allow all LC committees to conduct their business in an efficient and effective manner by using procedures that have been approved in a timely manner.

OUTCOME(S):

  1. Increase the efficiency with which the OPRG is able to review and approve new and revised operational procedures submitted by LC committees.
  2. Decrease the amount of time needed to review and approve the operational procedures needed by LC committees to conduct their business in an efficient and effective manner.

BUDGET IMPACT: Negligible expense. Under $25.00 necessary to copy and add these procedures to the Legislative Council Committees Operational Procedures Manual.

PROGRAMMATIC IMPACT:Approval of these revised operational procedures will allow the OPRG to implement a specific timeline for review and approval of an LC committee’s operational procedures.

Failure to approve this resolution may result in a committee having to operate under outdated operational procedures that would hinder their ability to conduct business in an efficient, effective, and timely manner.
