Earning ASHA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at the ASHA Convention
The ASHA Convention offers opportunities to earn up to 2.4 ASHA CEUs.
How to Get CEU Credit for the ASHA Convention
- Track your session attendance on the Convention Session Attendance Form found on page 53 of the convention program or available on-site. This form is your personal record of the CEU sessions you attended. You may need to supply a detailed list of Convention CEU activities to a licensing board, education agency, or employer.
- Complete both sides of the ASHA Convention CEU Participant Form available at CE desks at McCormick Place Convention Center. Fill out both sides of the form completely and sign it.
- Turn in your CEU Participant Form before you leave Convention. Do not take the form away to mail later! Forms cannot be accepted after Convention, and CEUs cannot be awarded retroactively.
About the CE Registry
Your 2003 ASHA CE Registry fee ($21 members, $31 nonmembers) must be paid in order to have ASHA CEUs awarded or to receive a transcript. You may pay at the Action Center stations at Convention, or call ASHA’s Action Center, at 800-498-2071 to pay by credit card.
Even if you are undecided about using the CE Registry, we encourage you to turn in a completed CEU Participant Form before you leave Convention. Your completed form is the only way ASHA will be able to document your attendance in the future.
Sessions for ASHA CEUs
ASHA CEUs are awarded for all Convention sessions listed in this program that have an official session number, including:
- Short courses
- Computer labs
- Seminars
- Instructional courses
- Audiology keynotes
- Poster sessions
- Technical sessions
To claim a session for ASHA CEUs, you must attend the entire session. For each poster session claimed, you must attend for at least 15 minutes.
Short Courses and Computer Labs
ASHA CEUs are recorded for short courses and computer labs by swiping your plastic expo card as you exit the program. (Your expo card is included in your registration packet with your badge.) Do not list short courses and computer labs on your CEU Participant Form.
Poster Sessions
You may claim a maximum of 0.7 ASHA CEUs (7 hours) for poster sessions. You must claim at least 15 minutes (0.25 hours) but no more than 30 minutes (0.5 hours) per poster.
Verification of Attendance
The official record of your attendance at the ASHA Convention is a transcript from the ASHA CE Registry, backed up by your completed Convention Session Attendance form.
If you require proof of attendance before Convention CEUs are reported to the CE Registry (normally by the end of January), retain your registration receipt and be sure to keep your personal Session Attendance form. Many employers will accept these for reimbursement.
If you have an attendance form that requires a signature, mail it with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ASHA Conventions and Meetings, 10801 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852-3279 for verification of registration. ASHA staff cannot sign attendance documents on-site. To verify attendance, you must submit a completed CEU Participant Form before you leave Convention.
AAA CE Information
Audiologists can earn AAA CEUs at the ASHA Convention. Information packets on how to obtain AAA CEUs are available at the ASHA Information Desk.
