How do I know if a course offers ASHA CEUs?
Look for the ASHA CE logo (see example, right) and a promotional statement from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. There are over 490 ASHA Approved CE Providers offering over 13,000 ASHA CEU activities a year. Please note: some promotional materials advertise the course as suitable for speech-language pathologists and/or audiologists' professional development. This does not mean it offers ASHA CEUs. Look for the logo and ASHA statement.

What is a continuing education unit (CEU)?
One CEU (1.0 CEU) is equivalent to 10 contact/clock hours. The CEU is a nationally recognized standard unit of measurement for participation in a Continuing Education (CE) activity. The CEU standards are set by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Visit their Web site for more information.
What is the difference between ASHA CEUs and other CEUs?
ASHA Approved CE providers must meet stringent standards set by ASHA's Continuing Education Board. Only activities offering ASHA CEUs can be posted on your Registry transcript. There are other types of CEUs and credits in the marketplace. However, ASHA does not regulate other types of credit. We advise you to contact your state licensing board to see what other types of credit are acceptable toward your licensure requirements.
