EXEMPT
The purpose of this position is to develop, maintain, and promote ASHA's Information Resource Center, which includes a small central library, nine small "team libraries" throughout the National Office, and association archives. The individual in this position works with a variety of people throughout the office to ensure that information needs are met and that available information resources are promoted.
Responsibilities
- Catalog print resources in team libraries and the main library in ASHA's Integrated Library System (EOS.Web).
- Maintain, improve and promote the Information Resource Center site on the ASHA intranet.
- Describe and arrange materials in the archives.
- Identify and acquire electronic resources, including bibliographic databases and electronic journals.
- Improve staff awareness of information resources and provide research guidance and training.
- Develop and maintain library and archive policies and procedures, such as disaster recovery, copyright compliance, access to resources, etc.
- Learn about new advances, theories and issues in information resource and archives management and brainstorm implementation ideas with the Knowledge and Collaboration Management Team.
Qualifications
Knowledge typically acquired through:
- Successful completion of the Masters in Library Science (or its equivalent) from an ALA accredited university
- One to three years experience in an information resources management position, preferably in a corporate or non-profit environment. Solo librarianship experience is a strong plus.
Scope and depth of technical skills/knowledge:
- Experience with and/or knowledge of cataloging standards and integrated library systems, preferably EOS
- Expertise in online database and Internet searching and demonstrated ability to teach search skills to others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of intranet best practices (Experience with Microsoft SharePoint preferred)
- Understanding of archival description and preservation
- Experience in online database license negotiation preferred
- Knowledge of copyright laws and compliance techniques

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including informal class and individual instruction

Salary: $55,980 - $62,200
