    1. ARTA Statement of Interest (500 words) - The statement will be judged on the thoughtfulness, clarity, and organization of the response and should address the following:
      1. What area(s) of research would you like to learn more about and why?
      2. How would the ARTA program and participating in the ASHA Convention be of benefit to your career goals?
    2. Curriculum vitae/resume describing research activities
    3. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mentor (see details below)

    Letter of Recommendation

    Your recommendation should come from a faculty member and/or mentor who is knowledgeable about your interest in research as a component of your career, and who can address how learning about research through ASHA's ARTA program would benefit your future professional goals. The faculty member should provide the letter on letterhead and in PDF format for you to include in your application.

    When speaking with the faculty member who will be writing the letter of recommendation, be sure to:

    • provide information about the ARTA program;
    • discuss your response to the ARTA statement;
      • describe the area(s) of research about which you would like to learn more, and why; and
      • discuss how and why receiving the ARTA and attending the ASHA Convention would help advance your career goals.

    The person submitting a letter of recommendation on your behalf must hold a research doctoral degree (e.g., PhD) in audiology, hearing science, or a related discipline. They do not need to be employed at the same institution where you are enrolled or hold a faculty appointment within a communication sciences and disorders (CSD) program.
