Analysis of 2012 Medicare Fee Schedule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the 2012 Outpatient Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) for Part B services on November 1, 2011.

The 2012 Medicare Fee Schedule & Hospital OPPS for Audiologists, 2012 Medicare Fee Schedule for Speech-Language Pathologists, and a copy of the CMS final rule are available to ASHA members at the links below.

ASHA's analysis of the 2012 fee schedule provides an overview of new policy changes, reproduces a listing of all procedures used by SLPs and audiologists, calculates the actual national average payment amounts, and provides information for accessing the exact payment figure based on geographic location.

2012 Medicare Fee Schedules

Note: On Friday, December 23, 2011, the president signed the Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011. The law extends the therapy cap exceptions process and current Medicare fee schedule through February 29, 2012. The fee schedules below have been updated to reflect the temporary national rates. For more information, please read "Medicare Fee Schedule & Therapy Cap Included in 2012 Two-Month Correction."
