Audiology and speech-language pathology services under Medicare Part B (outpatient) have reimbursement rates established by the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) regardless of provider setting, except for outpatient audiology services provided in hospitals. Analysis of the 2014 Medicare Fee Schedule

ASHA's analysis of the 2014 Medicare Fee Schedule provides an overview of relevant policy changes and calculates national average payment amounts for audiologists and speech-language pathologists.On April 1, 2014, President Obama signed into law the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014. This legislation prevented the 24% cut in reimbursement that would have gone into effect on April 1, 2014, freezes 2014 rates through December 31, 2014, and prevents further reductions through March 31, 2015. The legislation also extended the outpatient (Part B) therapy cap exceptions and manual medical review process through March 31, 2015.
