The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has again pushed back the implementation date for the "Red Flag" rules from November 1, 2009 to June 1, 2010. The FTC requires health care providers to implement a policy to prevent identity theft. Private practice audiologists and speech-language pathologists who do not require patients to pay for their services in full at the time of service are required to implement a program to prevent identity theft by June 1, 2010. ASHA’s posted a previous article about complying with the FTC’s "red flag" rules.
